ABFT ACCREDITED BY THE FORENSIC SPECIALTIES
ACCREDITATION BOARD
The Forensic
Specialties Accreditation Board (FSAB) was formed in 2000 as an entity to
objectively assess, recognize, and monitor various professional boards that
certify individual forensic scientists and other forensic specialists. The
voluntary program has promulgated standards that include evaluation of the
mechanisms used to establish the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the
applicants, the required education and training of the applicants, and the
organization, management, policies and procedures and certification
standards of the Board. A continuing education program and a statement of
ethics and professional standards are also required.
The ABFT is
pleased to announce that it has been accredited by the FSAB at action taken
at the FSAB’s annual meeting in February. The ABFT is the fourth board
accredited by the FSAB. ABFT accreditation followed a comprehensive review
of ABFT’s certification activities and the submission of a detailed
application that required an extensive effort by all the Directors of ABFT.
Recognition of ABFT by FSAB validates the credibility of the certification
process and of those certified by ABFT.
